I just had a German friend on the phone whose notebook came with Vista preinstalled. He doesn't like Vista and neither do I.
He has been trying to install a German version of Windows XP on his notebook because he has a licensed version that he is no longer using on his other computer.
But every time he inserts the XP CD, it is not detected by the notebook and acts as if no CD has been inserted. If he inserts the German Vista installation CD in his notebook, it is detected and works fine. If he inserts his XP CD in a notebook from his friend, it works fine.
He tells me the XP CD has no scratches so there must be some kind of software or even hardware detection that only allows Vista. I'm amazed that this kind of Microsoft monopoly is even allowed and that noone has sued the company for the time that they spend figuring out how to remove this crap from their computers.
Anyway, thanx to you guys, it will probably work, at least according to www.removevista.com. It's nice to know that someone has got these bootdisks and boot images available on the internet. Thanks a million guys!!!
