It seems I am a bit belated but maybe someone else will benefit
Scratched CD can be fixed by polishing them on a soft cloth with a bit of cleaning fluid used for cleaning silverware. The same as you would polish any perspex or clear plastic item It requires a flat surface and a good measure elbow grease but this really work. Do not take short cut and use your power drill You do not want to generate to much heat as it would damage the inner layer.
