Windows 98 Boot Disk Download

I was unable to let the program copy everything to the disk...

i have a Dell Dimension b110 hard drive and it only has 1 drive so it keeps telling me that there is no disk in the drive so what download should i do.

I'm trying to use my mac to create the boot disks that I need to try and start my win98 laptop PC. But the mac can't read/use the self extract files for windows. Is there any way around this? - would it be able to use the cd extract? My PC at work doesn't have a floppy drive and doesn't have a burner so I can't use it to make the disks..

No 98 boot disk support for creating a CDROM boot disk. Nobody uses or has floppies anymore.

Further, your Win ME cdrom boot disks can't sys c:, so what is the point. All you can do is fdisk and format a drive, and can't get any further. You can copy the Win instll files to a drive, but if you can't boot to it, you can't do an install. Further, if you try to do an install under DOS having booted into these boot disks, the ramdrive creates and error during Win98 setup, looking for "drive B:" when there is no drive B physically or setup in bios.

how do i put the right download on a floppy disk

Boot with the 98-disc, put the XP-cd in the CD-rom station. Browse to i386, and run winnt.exe

I do not have a floppy drive and I need to make a bootable cd with the win98 setup files. I know how to make a bootable cd but how can I get the sys command to work or copy.

I have made a Windows 98 boot disk, formatted my c: drive, and performed a SYS of the C: drive. For some reason, the C: drive doesn't boot and I get an OS loader error.

I am trying to make a windows98 boot disk so I can get CD-ROM support so I can instal Ubuntu 7.4 (my computer won't boot to the CD - I did the whole boot sequence in the BIOS. Well I downloaded all four extration files but my computer tells me my floppy drive dos not support the image files or some BS like that. I have no 98 CD otherwise I'de just make a boot disk. Any ideas other than changing out my floppy drive?

A friend of mine had through an auction in Darjeeling, India purchased 15 Compaq PCs three of which comprise of Compaq Prosignia 300, Compaq Deskpro and Compaq Prolinea 450. Now these PCs originally assembled in the US of A are a beauty. But when they reached me they had possibly gone through the worst. Hi, I'm not familiar with this format disk thing and my computer doesn't pick up when I put the 98 boot disk in at startup.. now I have hit F8 to choose for it to go to the A drive but doesn't recognize it.. so what I did was put my XP disk in as it always recognizes that, and booted from cd, went to R for XP recovery like I was gonna recover it.. now I got command prompt.. so I inserted the 98 boot disk again.. command prompted it to go to A: and typed format C: and it's formatting it.. but I'm not sure it will come out OK having to have my XP disk in in order to format, I mean, will it format it normally or will it be messed up? I'm sure I'm gonna have to create a partition having both the 98 floppy and XP disk too, then I can proceed to install windows 98. My computer is not a name brand, in fact I bought it on ebay it's a custom tower so probably more difficult to figure out and not the same as having a brand name, but I had alot of viruses/trojans on it and it still booted up and ran not too bad, if I had a name brand it would be toast, lol.

Is there any way to get the ima file out of the packed file, because i'm sitting and making my inf file to my windows 98 installation and shoud have the file into the image, and also add it to the configuration of autoexec.bat.

i'm having a problem installing the bootup disk i downloaded for windows 98. i only have a floppy drive (no CD rom drive right now). It's not even letting me start windows now. it keeps trying to find a cd rom drive. any suggestions? thx

The bootdisk creation executable does not work under Windows Vista. Could you release a standard IMA disk image file instead that can be written with a Vista-compatible app such as WinImage?

I am trying to reurrect a Compaq Presario 5686 which after a successful bios boot, cannot recognize the Hard Drive. I used the 98 SE disk and all works fine, including the Scandisk /all and Sys C: transfer. But when I try to boot without the floppy, it will again say "No boot drive".

Any ideas?

ok when i inserted the floppy and choose option #2 it says that all the files have been installed and stuff but when i restared my pc after.. im getting this error message..

"a required .DLL file,C:\windows\system\msvcrt.DLL, was not found"
also i get
"error loading Explorer.exe"

it wont even let me log on to windows

I am having a problem with my Toughbook. I have the COA and everything is all good except that i do not have a CD-ROM and I dont know what to do. I have formated (fdisk) and everything else. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to put win98 install on a floppy since i have no CD-ROM

Thanks for the image file. This is probably the only site that offers the image file and not an executable.
One grouch : is there any need to keep the links hidden behind a layer of script? I had a tough time figuring out the location of the links as I do not enable Javascript by default.

im trying to resurrect a dell latitude lm m166st with swappable drives! in its BIOS, there are only 2 choices for boot up, hard disk or floppy drive! problem is, the floppy drive is damaged! is there a way that i can reinstall win98 without the floppy drive and boot disk!

First of all I want to apology because of my english as it is not my native language

I have problems with my Compaq Note Book, Presario 715 US.
and its Operating System.

It crashed weeks ago and i was not able to get back it to life again. Compaq has 3 CDs that are necessary to conduct what they call Quick Restore.

In those CDs there are the drivers, among them ... the Cd-Rom Driver.
If you do a Quick Restore Procedure you obtain a system the same status it was shipped when was delivered from factory. It is not working because one of the Cds is corrupted. So, drivers are not transferred and .... by example the cd-rom does not read. Cause of it ..I cannot insert any other Windows operating system or any bootable Cd, because they are not recognized. I am seeing how my lap top is dying because there is no support for it. I am also sure something
happened with the C: partion because many people was fooling around trying to recover the system.

The only thing I was able to do is to insert a diskette containing W98 start up which was accepted, but the Cd-Rom driver that W98 installed does nothing to revive the cd-rom as it is not the one compaq is expecting ( a propietary one ). I tried Hirens bootable disk and it is not recognised ..but it was weeks ago.

I was wondering if anyone knows an easier method to bring my lap top to life and install any XP despite the one that comes within the 3 Quick Restore Cds.( which they are corrupted )

I do not know what I did, but the lap top has accepted the Quick Restore CD Number 1.

However, it stopped the process when entire progress was 18%, copying data was 12% and error was 701. Any input will be highly appreciated.

Every time I move the Win 98 SE image file to my floppy, it says to enter a higher capacity drive. But the file is 1.4 mb and my diskette can hold 1.44 mb. I have no other files on it. What is the problem?

I'm lost. I have a HP 8650c that someone was doing recovery on. In the process something happened. Now it is trying to read from the 3.5 floppy drive instead of the CD-ROM drive. In the mean time I have been told that I can change that in the BIOS. Also I have moved a few times before I was able to do it. Now I don't have the Recovery disks, I have nothing. When I boot it up it says invalid system disk (retry blah blah blah) when i tried to make a bootable disk it then said non-system disk or disk error (retry blah blah blah) What do I do. how can I make a disk that I can put in my computer so that I can have a computer. What files do I need to copy? What what? I have this Dell Inspiron B130 that has XP on it. I was told that since my PC supports Win98/2000 that it should support XP can I copy files to a CD and if so. Which ones do I need? Please someone help me before I loose my mind.

Excellent! I have no floppy drive in my new pc, but needed to install Win98 on Virtual PC.
Grabbed the image, loaded it up and was ready to go.

I downloaded the boot disk file and loaded it unto the floppy, i have the computer set for A: then C: in the BIOS menu but still everytime i try to load the disk i get the error message invalid system disk replace the disk, and then press any key. please help

I am trying to install windows 98 on virtual pc to run dos games on. Now the problem is I found a floppy image. It almost went to the setup for windows 98. I did the steps right but when it gets to the part where the setup starts. It still says the bad command message. I have the bootdisk image and the floppy image can anyone help? I would like that.
